Just over a year ago our family weathered a storm where we thought we would be protected. And we were … by God’s saving grace of time and my husband’s evacuation training. When he said it was time to pack up to go, we packed everything in every suitcase we had, loaded it in our RV and headed out. We took the kids to their grandparents just a mile down the road to a higher, safer place.
The following days were just a blur as we walked through the house gathering up items that we wanted to keep that had not been damaged by the flood. I didn’t realize just how strong and how much endurance I had at the time.
Here we are during peak hurricane season again and I can’t say that I’m not a bit anxious about the tropical wave forming in the gulf as they say it is supposed to dump a lot of rain and cause more flooding. All I can do is lean on God and the verse that a dear friend told me about below that God is always with us no matter what.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. (Isaiah 43:2 NLT)
