Life’s a Dance

Life is a dance … a delicate balance of what you have to do, need to do and want to do. The key is following the Master to know what steps to take.

As a mom, I juggle a million things at any given time. Laundry, exercise, Bible Study, self-care, cooking, cleaning, work, home management, family time, time with spouse, vacations and the list goes on. Now with two children in school, I have twice the homework to check, twice the folders to sign, twice of everything school-related. It has caused me to become even more organized with my time which is a good thing.

In addition to school, my 10-year-old is involved in an elite basketball league, which has practice twice a week and I will be registering my 5-year-old in gymnastics soon so life will get even busier. I wouldn’t trade it for the world because watching my girls do their thing makes me happy. It’s just another dance to learn.

My mornings consist of a rotation of exercise, Bible Study, coloring and reading – all before the girls get up. Then, the quick-step begins as I get ready for work and get the girls off to school. After work, the dance starts all over again.

Although we are a busy family, we manage to eat most dinners together, though the dinners are not the kind you would find on Pinterest. I am grateful for my family for eating the same meals over and over because they are quick and easy. I am beginning to plan out my meals so I can have time to search for recipes and meal ideas. Plus posting the menu on the refrigerator ends the nightly question of “What’s for dinner?

When I get free time, I like to putter in my flower garden. My favorite thing to do is to take plants that are near-death and, with God’s help, bring them back to life. I even enjoy pulling weeds (crazy, right?). I think it is because it is me-time and enables me to be outside enjoying God’s creation.

Lastly, I love to lose myself in a good book and probably have as many books on my Kindle as our local library has on their shelves.

In the end, how I proceed through my day, and through my life for that matter, is by following the guidance of my Father.
